Jason Capewell

Resident Director

Jason trained at The Birmingham School of Speech and Dramatic Art and undertook further study at Arts Educational Schools, London.

As Director and Associate Director his credits include: Ladies Day, (Wolverhampton Grand Theatre), a brand new production of Hairspray for Royal Caribbean on board the ‘Symphony of the Seas’ the largest cruise ship in the world, Sunset Boulevard (U.K. & International tour) Chicago (Singapore), Grease (U.K. & International tour), The Bodyguard (South Korea), a brand new production of Grease for Royal Caribbean 'Harmony of the Seas' and then a replica production on the 'Independence of the Seas', Xanadu (Southwark Playhouse, U.K. Premier), Priscilla, Queen of the Desert, (U.K. & international tour), Sunset Boulevard, (Grand Theatre, Wolverhampton), Grease (Singapore, Australia, New Zealand, Hong Kong & South Africa), Grease (London) and Taboo, The Boy George Musical (London).

As Resident Director his credits include: The Bodyguard, (West End, Toronto, U.K. & Ireland Tour and various work on other worldwide productions including China), Rock of Ages (U.K. & Ireland Tour), Chicago (U.K. & Ireland Tour), Ghost the Musical (U.K. & Ireland Tour), Priscilla, Queen of the Desert (U.K. Tour) and Grease (U.K. & European tour 2003-2008).

For TV Jason was involved with: Grease, You're the One That I Want! (ITV) and Grease, The School Musical (Sky One).

Jason has over 25 years’ experience of producing and directing Musical Theatre Gala Concerts including The Macmillan Centenary Gala (London Palladium), The Musicals (Birmingham Symphony Hall), West End Celebration Galas, (The Palace & Queens Theatres, London) and West End Eurovision, for the Theatre Mad, charity (Piccadilly & Dominion Theatres, London).

Jason was the director of The Hampstead Theatre Arts Academy and has vast experience in directing musicals for teenagers & children from all walks of life.

His West End, UK and international performing credits include: Grease, Hold Tight It’s 60’s Night, Starlight Express. 20th Century Musicals, The Wizard of Oz, Oliver, and Aida, as well as various Pantomimes and Summer Seasons.

Jason’s recording credits include the demo recording of Lord of the Rings and The Musicals at Symphony Hall, Birmingham.

Jason has appeared on television in One By One (BBC), The Bill (ITV) Blue Peter (BBC) and a commercial for Lipton Ice Tea.
